Hello and welcome to another school year, my name is Jill Brickson-Mihm. Since I will be working with your child this year, I imagine you might like to know a little bit about who I am. I was born and raised in Montrose, Colorado. I received my undergraduate degree from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado and had majors in Education and Spanish. I minored in Psychology and Sociology. I also have K-12 ESL and Bilingual teaching certifications. During college, I spent 7 months attending a University in Costa Rica and worked for a month in public schools in Mexico. Before coming to Dillon Valley, I taught in Montrose, Colorado. I was an English as a Second Language teacher for two years and I also taught fourth grade for a year. While in Montrose, I spent two summers attending Northern Arizona University where I received my Master of Arts Degree in Multicultural, Linguistically Diverse and Bilingual Education. I have taught in the fifth grade position here at DVE for eleven years ( this will be my twelfth year). During the 2011-2012 school year, my husband Ryan Mihm and I had the opportunity to teach in Spain. I am eagerly returning to my position here at DVE this year, while Ryan will continue with his position as a 6th grade teacher at the Middle School. I am proud to say that in November of 2013, I passed my board exams and completed all required coursework in order to receive my NBPTS certification (National Board for Professional Teaching Standards). I have a son, Solan, who will be turning two years old on the 30th of this month. My husband and I are beyond excited and happy in this new world of parenting! I enjoy the outdoors, biking, canoeing, camping and traveling. I have great passion for my family, friends, children, animals, the environment and education. I look forward to getting to know you this year and am so happy to be your child’s teacher.Thank you in advance for your support and for this opportunity to be a part of your child’s education and life. Hola a todos y bienvenidos a otro año escolar. Mi nombre es Jill Brickson-Mihm, y cómo seré la maestra de su hijo(a) para este año, creo que es importante para ustedes saber algo sobre mi vida, mis estudios, y mi experiencia hasta este momento. Yo naci y creci en Montrose, Colorado. Me gradué del colegio Fort Lewis en Durango, Colorado, y tengo estudios de maestria en Educacion y Español: ademas, tengo especializacion en Psicologia y Sociologia. Actualmente poseo certificaciones en enseñanzas del Inglés como segunda lengua en grados K-12 y en bilingüismo. Mientras estaba estudiando mi carrera, hice un intercambio con una universidad en Costa Rica por siete meses, y trabaje en colegios publicos en Mexico por un mes. Antes de trabajar en Dillon Valley, enseñe en Montrose, Colorado. Fui maestra de Inglés como segunda lengua por dos años y luego enseñe en grado cuarto por un año. Mientras estuve trabajando en Montrose, estudie en la Unviersidad de Notrhern Arizona, donde recibí mi titulo de maestria en Educacion Lingüísticamente Diversa, Bilingue, y Multicultural. He trabajado como maestra de grado quinto en Dillon Valley por once años, (este será mi doce ano). Durante el año escolar 2011-2012, mi esposo Ruan Mihm y yo tuvimos la oportunidad de enseñar en España, Este año estoy regresando a mi posición como maestra en DVE, mientras mi esposo Ryan tiene su posición como maestro de grado seis en secundaria. Estoy orgullosa decir que en el Noviembre de 2013 yo cumpli con los requisitos de obtener mi certificado de NBPTS (Certificado Nacional de Maestras Profesionales). Tengo un hijos, Solan, que tendrá dos años el 30 de Septiembre! Mi esposo y yo estamos muy emocionados y felices de ser padres!

Me gustan las actividades al aire libre, montar bicicleta, canoeing, acampar, todos los deportes, viajar y siento un gran amor por mi familia, mis amigos, los niños, los animales, el medio ambiente y me encanta ser maestra. Espero conocerlos mejor este año y me siento muy feliz de ser la maestra de su hijo(a) este año. Les agradezco su apoyo y esta oportunidad de ser parte del a educación de sus hijos.
